Spam Filtering An Inevitable Protection Process

Spam Filtering is an integrated feature of web based email services that screens incoming emails at the server level itself. Such filtering helps the user to get trained by improving the ability of filters to find the incoming bulk mail.

Spam filtering is a method of intercepting and detecting unwanted bulk emails or spam mails much before it reaches the inbox or the mailbox of the recipient. Such span filters are generally helpful in detecting bulk emails through the occurrence of some phrases and some well known spammer IP addresses that are already present in the incoming emails.

Spam is considered as a moving target since there are various distributors of spam that are finding innovative solutions to circumvent the spam filters that protect the mailboxes of email users. The developer of technology that filters spam is continuously being challenged in their expedition to keep the bulk mail blitz at bay. In order to shield email effectively the users of spam should use the spam filters very flexibly. The spam filters facilitates the users to personalize the filter by teaching how to detect and intercept emails that fits every user’s taste and preferences.

The spam filtering technology works in juxtaposition with the end user interface. The end user utilizes the interface of end user to provide the selected email messages for the analysis of spam emails. It compiles the data that enables to seize and identify spam by analyzing the incoming messages. The spam filters becomes increasingly adept at the seizing electronic emails that is measured spam mails by the users along with the escalating number of email messages that are scrutinized.

It works in a method where in whenever an email message is received in the mailbox of the user, a connection is established and the filters accept the incoming connections and receive the incoming emails in the inbox. These messages are then entered in the filtering system and are handled by the spam filters. The spam filters then strips out the basic reply and forward addresses from the emails. The addresses are used to compare to the end user allowing a list of well known and good senders. If the user defines an email address as good then the filtering process gets completed and the emails are delivered to the inbox without further process. In other cases, if the user defines a particular message as not good or not allowed then the addresses are compared to the blocked list which is supplied by the end user. If the same address is blocked, that message is known as spam and is delivered to the bulk mail box folder of the user’s email processing. With this the filtering process for a particular single message gets completed.
In a varied case of spam filtering if a message is received and detected but found that it is not a blocked message nor allowed message then that particular email message is reported to the spam filter with its statistical filtering analysis. Such a statistical filter then uses a scrupulous analysis to determine and calculate if that particular message is a spam or not.
